The State of Maryland has made the decision to keep schools closed for the remainder of the school year. The Chesapeake Conference has decided that our school will also follow those guidelines. This means that students in kindergarten - 8th grade will continue their studies with distance learning for the rest of the 2019-2020 school year.
April 27, 2020
We miss our students very much and look forward to being together again as soon as it is possible. The school will remain closed and continue using distance learning through May 15. We hope to be able to resume in-person learning at the school on Monday, May 18. This will be dependent upon the decisions made for the re-opening of our state. We will keep you updated as we know more. While the school is closed, we are still open to provide care for the children of essential personnel as an official Essential Personnel Child Care (EPCC) site.
March 27, 2020
Our preschool has been approved as an Essential Personnel Child Care (EPCC) site beginning on March 30, 2020. This applies to all qualified families currently enrolled and new families in need of care for their children during this time. Designated essential workers may qualify for tuition assistance from the state. For enrollment information, please email us at elementary@friendshipadventistschool.org or call (410)859-3598.
Our kindergarten-8th grade students will continue with their studies via distance learning through April 24, 2020. We hope to be able to resume in-classroom learning on Monday, April 27.

Dear Friendship Families,
We have been given clearance from both our Licensing Specialist from the State of Maryland and the Chesapeake Conference superintendent's office to keep the Preschool open while schools are closed for the next two weeks. We will be open March 16-27 for all students in the 2 and 3 year old classes and Pre-K. We will keep you informed of any changes as they happen.
The school will remain closed for students in Kindergarten - 8th grade as announced yesterday.

Dear Friendship Families,
This afternoon Governor Hogan declared a state of emergency for Maryland and called for all public schools to be closed March 16 – March 27th. He urged private schools to close as well, in an attempt to slow the spread of COVID-19. This evening, our superintendent for Chesapeake Conference schools has decided to close our schools for the same time period. We will be open tomorrow as planned, but will be closed from Monday, March 16th to Friday, March 27th. We are planning to re-open on Monday, March 30th.
I recognize the difficult spot this places some families in. The greatest concern our teachers share is for the safety and health of our students. During the closure, we will be sanitizing the school so that it will be ready for our students’ return.
Our preschool board is meeting this weekend in an emergency session to discuss ways minimize the impact on our preschool families. More information will be sent as soon as we can.
May God keep you in his care.

Dear Friendship Families,
You may have heard about the confirmed case of COVID-19 in Anne Arundel County today. The woman has been visiting AAC for about a week and is now hospitalized. Fortunately, her contact with residents of Anne Arundel County was limited. Additionally, many state colleges and universities are planning to close and conduct classes online.
At a meeting of leaders from Anne Arundel Co. today, it was recommended that elementary schools within the county remain open, as the current threat of contracting COVID-19 is minimal.
We, at FAS are committed to keeping you informed with the latest information as we receive it, recognizing that the situation is changing rapidly. We are planning ahead to provide web-based assignments for elementary and middle school students if we need to close.
Please continue to use normal safety precautions:
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
- Use hand sanitizer that is at least 60% alcohol.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth when your hands are not freshly washed.
- Cough or sneeze into a tissue. When one is not immediately accessible, direct it into your elbow.
- Keep frequently touched surfaces cleaned and disinfected.
Remember to keep your child home if he or she has symptoms of illness including fever, cough & congestion, or flu.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has a website full of information and tips about COVID-19. Visit their site to learn the latest: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html
Praying that all remain healthy and safe!
Blessings,
Michele Gavin, Principal
